Modern Bath

One of the oldest baths was found in India in around 3300BC where copper pipes and one of the oldest personal bath tubs was found beneath a palace. But the credit for incorporating bathing in everyone’s daily routine goes to the Romans.

In Rome, men use to take baths and do other activities like sports alongside. Earlier, these baths were only for men but later they were opened for women too but for a very short period of time and at higher cost as compared to fee paid by a man.

Bath tub are plumbic fixture which is used for bathing. Some of the bath tubs are made of fiberglass or acrylic while there are many which are made of steel, wood or caste iron. These are placed in bath rooms or also known as bath suites. The modern bath tubs can be found to have waste drains or even a tap which is mounted at one end of the bath tub. They very available in rectangular shapes only but after the introduction of acrylic, many other shapes are now possible to make and have been introduced in the market.

There are two main types of bath tub that are commonly used today:

  1. Western style bath tub
  2. Eastern style bath tub

In Western style bath tubs, the bather lays down. These are depthless and elongated bath tubs. Eastern style bath tubs on the other hand are deep and small as compared to the western bath tubs. In these the bather sits up.

Claw-foot tub – Made of Caste iron or acrylic.

  1. Classic flat rim tubs.
  2. Slipper tubs: In this, one end is raised for better lounging.
  3. Double slipper tubs: In this, both ends are raised.
  4. Double ended tubs.
  5. Pedestal tubs: these tubs don’t have claw feet. The tub rests on the floor.

Baby bath tubs – Are used for bathing babies and small children. These are designed for the babies to recline while keeping their head out of the water.

Hot tubs – these are used for making ourselves comfortable and relaxation.

Whirlpool tubs- these tubs are used in spas and all.

Bath Suites Or Bathrooms

It is like a cabinet. Bath suite can be called a suite with all the necessary things for bathing and other activities related to this. This place is also known as a room with a bath. A bath suite may have:

  • Bath tub or bath tubs
  • Washbasin or hand basin
  • A sink
  • Shower
  • Lavatory

Types Of Bath Suites

  • En-suite: It means ‘a following’. This is the bath suite attached to a particular room. It is intended for the use of the occupants of that bedroom only.
  • Master bath suite: A bath suite which is connected to the master bed room in a private house.
  • Jack and Jill bathroom: A bath suite attached to two bedrooms.
  • Private bath suite: these types of bath suites may be accessed from outside the bedroom. But is usually near to the bedroom.
