At the end of 1950s a new material appeared on the U.S. building market.
Its unique properties were very high evaluated by builders and it became very popular all over the world. This building material get the name – siding.
Why is it so attractive? The siding is non-toxic, fast and incombustible building material. It’s corrosion-resistant, doesn’t change its colour and doesn’t need a special care. A house coated with home siding breathes because there are a special openings meant to ventilation and condensation drainage. A large range of colours and a wide variety of panel forms allow a house to be very ornate. The siding varies with simplicity in use and mounting. A slight weight of panel and mounting simplicity allow installing it by oneself. And its unique properties enable its mounting all seasons of the year. The siding practically doesn’t require special cleaning except sometimes it would a good thing to spray it from hose. Wind and rain will make the rest.
Another attractive property of this building material is its price. This material is inexpensive. It’s much cheaper than natural facing materials. A period of guarantee of siding is very high that is why a house with siding can avoid expensive repairs.
The main types of siding:
- Vinyl siding
- Aluminum siding
- Steel siding
- Wood siding
- Composite siding
- Masonry siding
Aluminum siding is suitable both for coating of house and for industrial building. A slight weight of panel (1,7 KG/M2) makes the use of siding for the coating of high-rise buildings possible as well.
Metal siding is widely used as a covering material for facade works of both commercial and private building.
Vinyl siding (PVC siding) is the most popular type of siding especially in low-rise building or cottage building.
Composite siding is used for covering of outside walls of low-rise apartment buildings, cottages, storage facilities, auxiliary facilities etc.
Masonry siding can be used as a covering both for facade plinth part of building and for interior trim of room.
There are some parameters that show the quality of siding. By the testing it’s necessary to find out: does the siding correspond to a colour standard, is its surface homogeneous, what are the indexes of impact resistance and heat- and cold resistance, how firm is a colour of material? The siding was tested by a long period. Its unique properties allow speaking about high quality of this material. The houses with siding are not only fine and safe but also longeval.
